Get ready to hit The Sweet Spot

The latest trends in bakery and desserts will take centre stage at The Sweet Spot, right near the entry to Foodservice Australia, 23-25 June at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Hosted by Nerida Conway, this exciting new demonstration stage will showcase chocolate, confectionery, gelato and patisserie, with free hourly presentations aimed at bakers, patissiers, and chefs looking to sweeten up their menu.

Presenters include the likes of The Sugar Florist Timothea Ridgewell, Executive Pastry Chef Pierrick Boyer, Chocolate Artisan Jessica Pedemont and award-winning patissier Santiago Cuyugan from Bibelot.

“The Sweet Spot will offer more than just inspiration and mouth-watering desserts,” says Exhibition Manager Liz Dickson. “The presenters will be sharing business-ready tips, trends and ideas, which visitors can put to work straight away in their bakery, patisserie, restaurant or catering business.”

Desserts, pastries and sweets have enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, with some desserts achieving cult-like status thanks to Instagram and TV cooking shows.

“People will always want to enjoy a sweet treat when they dine out,” adds Dickson. “Additionally, around the world we are seeing growth in snacking occasions mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

“These are all opportunities for daytime operators to boost their bottom line, and a sweet indulgence is a crucial part of this trend.”

The Sweet Spot is set to be a highlight of Foodservice Australia trade show, and organisers are open to partnering with suppliers to promote ingredients and equipment in this booming market.

“This year Foodservice Australia is moving to a new venue at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and we are planning our biggest ever show,” says Dickson. “The Sweet Spot will be a huge drawcard for anyone who already serves up sweet treats, plus those who are looking for new, profitable ideas.”
